are talking books
I HATE talking toys and story books. Do you? How can you stand these annoying things???
I hate it when they just randomly start talking, because I startle rather easily, but also have you noticed that kids aren’t any more self-entertained by them than non-talking books and toys? It’s like people believe that kids will get into reading more if their books are interactive, when really the kids want the PARENT to read them the book. Or the parent to play with the toy truck, and make the noises it’s supposed to make. I think talking toys and books erase all opportunity of creative play for the child. What’s your opinion?

All of these sorts of things just remove any requirement for the child to use their imagination or make any kind of pro-active steps in their own development. Plus I am in Australia and ALL those talking horrible thingies have American voices! How silly is that?
