This year, I’m turning fifty and I’m planning to do something fun for that special day. I don’t have much money to spend on a big party so I’m organizing something that all my friends will really enjoy. The day of my birthday everybody will go to my house where we will have dinner together but that won’t be it. I got one of the best gifts ever this Christmas. It was really brilliant and I loved it. I was really upset the week before. I was really suffering with money and so I had to sell my television to get a train ticket to go and see my brother. I was really upset but I knew that it would be worth it. I sold it and then got the train. He is better now but he really appreciated me going down to see him. Anyway, I was really missing my television and it meant that I could not watch any of the great festive programmes that would be on. That was until Christmas Day, when my friends revealed that they had bought back my television and had even bought me satellite television. I was so happy it was almost unbelievable. I so so pleased and I even cried with joy!

My Family Road Trip to Montreal

I think we’ll be going to Montreal this year. My husband loves the audio show and they host it at the Sheraton each April in Montreal, Canada. We just bought a new convertible car seat, which was an upgrade from our previous Snugride 30. We’re buying a new car soon too. I feel that we’re packed and ready to go soon. I haven’t been to Montreal or gone on a trip for 3 years. It will be much more fun this time because I have a daughter and we can do things while my husband goes to the audio show. I’m really looking forward to this first family road trip. It should be a memorable one. The only thing I’m fretting is that Montreal is still really cold at this time, which means it’s going to be more difficult to go outside without warm and bulky clothes on. Taking a baby around town is harder too.

While searching online for some gift ideas, I found one suggestion that I really liked. Now, I found the perfect answer to my gift wrapping problems. Before, whenever I have some presents to give, I would just buy a paper bag. If the presents are for kids, I would buy a toy from a local toy store and have the toy gift wrapped on their store. I often do this because their gift wrapping is free if I buy it from their store. The irony, however is that even though the store clerks remove the price tags, my gift wrapper would have the name of the toy store. So, the recipient of my gift would still check the price tag of the toy from that store.

Now, with the magic gift wrapper, I wouldn’t have to worry about wrapping my gifts. I found out that there are instructions included with the set so I could learn how to do my own gift wrapping. There are also some beads and glitters inside the set that I could use in order to customize my wrappers.

My husband is a pilot and he loves to fly. He wanted his very own plane and finally talked me into it. We decided that an ultralight aircraft would work out best for us. An ultralight is a small, one or two person, fixed-wing plane. We wanted a two person ultralight so my husband could take me with him on flights. The first time I ever heard a carbon monoxide alarm sound, I was a bit non-reactive. I did not panic like the rest of my officemates. I just sat there and remained in my desk. I did not see any fire or any smoke so I thought that the office had one of those fire emergency drills and I just didn’t receive the memo. My colleague Ann, on the other hand, had the presence of mind to shake me from my ignorance and tell me we should get the hell out of there. It was only after the incident had quieted down that I had learned what that alarm was and how I should have reacted. I was made aware by Ann that carbon monoxide is an odourless and colourless gas that could have poisoned me if I did not leave my desk. Lesson learned: one should just up and leave whatever the alarm may be. It could just save your life.
