russian talking dictionary
Please suggest an English-Russian dictionary?
We are hosting an 8 year old Chernobyl this summer and would like to buy a dictionary English-Russian, so you can translate a word base to make him understand what I'm talking about. I need to not be written in Cyrillic cause I can not read! Some good pronunciation with our alphabet, with the proper syllable stress would be useful. Any suggestions?
I understand you want a book, not an online dictionary. And indeed, what we need is not a dictionary, but a "phrase book." In Russian a book like this is called Разговорник (pronounced: Razgovornik.) These books have words and phrases grouped not alphabetically, but by Russian themes and words written with English letters. I can not recommend one in particular, but a good bookstore will have.
