An audio book is a relatively new format that arouses skepticism in many people, especially if they have been educated to appreciate the written word. This is unfortunate, because an audio book is very easy to use and with the right combination of hardware and software, people may begin to appreciate a new world of storytelling and information.

It is fair to say that age plays an important role in the acceptance of audio books. Older people, surprisingly, are often more inclined to accept the new format. The BBC has been broadcasting in the classic series listen on the radio for many years and thus "a story is not an unusual phenomenon for the elderly.

And we must be aware that the audio book has come a long way from Native American tribes were recorded by JPHarrington in 1933. He recorded the oral history of these tribes so that future generations can enjoy and also preserve an important part of history.

Finally, the "Books for Adult Blind Project" was created by Congress and led to the development of talking books for people with hearing impairment. Soon, audio books are being made in their thousands and became a kind of public service. In fact, the National Library Service distributed millions of these audio books to blind people across the U.S..

How the audio book became part of Popular Culture

Above all other factors, technology made the most widespread audio book. Cassette recordings were favored in the 1960s and were easy to use and transport. Recordings of education became popular, especially self-help nature.

The arrival of the compact disc (or CD) transformed the entire industry. Since the industry matures, audio books became more polished and producers began to create high quality recordings made in top recording studios. The actors were hired to do the voice over industry and soon became a concern of millions of dollars.

For now, the audio book is very popular and easy access by all people. The growth of the Internet (and the increasing speeds available) has led to thousands of audio books that are available for download. Popular Recordings Obviously this is very convenient and makes available at any time of night or day, and without the inconvenience of having to leave home. Miniaturization Technology – mp3 players and phones – allows audio books to be enjoyed on the move too. Therefore, great classics of Shakespeare and Dickens are set to be heard by an even wider audience, perhaps even by those who might otherwise prefer to read comics.

Ironically, perhaps the dissemination of audio books is a lot of people driving back to reading the printed word. The concerns of the audio books to replace printed books is such Once a bit exaggerated, despite those who say otherwise. There are times when plugs or headphones, just not a good cut and traditional book is just the ticket. The dimension a physical printed book, perhaps with illustrations, has a few knocks.

Both print and audio books seem to have their place in the world of literature!
